Nation of Whiners

The Phil Gramm Debating Society

Phil Gramm says we are a nation of whiners. God. He ALWAYS says that. But maybe he's right. Whine away, pro or con.

Barbara Corcoran, The Jim Cramer Of The Real Estate Business

It's pouring rain outside, but in a green room at the "Today" show's Rockefeller Center studios, the sun is shining in the form of Barbara Corcoran. Cue cards? Check. Coffee with cream and copious amounts of sugar? Check. Almost every Friday, the pixieish real estate queen with the short blonde hair comes here in her shiny, fluorescent suits and delivers her ebullient shtick about what a great time it is to buy a home, recession be damned.

Dear Redacted

Dear Redacted
(Wednesday, July 25, 2007)

We are home in Arizona as of 1 am July 24. EXACTLY one year after we arrived..to the day...from our terrible war adventure.

It was a long hard trip (redacted). Good and bad...mostly closure of some things. Letting go of the ideal of "expatriatism" for now. It has been my central motivation and I realize now that I must move forward and I must move in this direction and at this pace.

What to do. The Middle East is a downright catastrophe and as… Continue

Why Me?

What About Mars?
May 11, 2006

No more problems says the package
the cure came in, no more
warning labels and the price tag
no longer legible. It began
with flashy children and fast cars
then people started talking
about the leftover stuff
after the move out,
wondered what would happen
to the crystal ball and Japanese flag.
Where to put Mars now?
Whose house next?

The End of Supply Side Economics

Each in our own way are coming to the realization that Reaganomics was indeed, Voodoo economics. The concept that greed is good coexisting with the self regulating discipline of the marketplace only served to reveal and amplify the worst of human nature. From the ashes of supply side economics rises the phoenix of Wall Street Socialism, whereby profit is for the top 1% and the risk is distributed to the taxpayers. The new meme thrust upon us is that, in the words of Animal Farm, some pigs are mo… Continue

Gamm is gone, but John and George are more than here.

Was Gramm out of touch? He was not alone.
